MFPC envisions a Montana where every resident has access to minimally processed, regionally available, nutrient-dense foods.

We acknowledge that hunger is just one symptom of the much deeper root cause of poverty.

MFPC pursues collaborative approaches to solving the challenge of hunger based on mutual respect, trust and accountability. We commit to fostering partnerships and sharing expertise to enable local food pantries to grow and develop healthy community food systems that promote socially just ways of accessing food.

We understand the debilitating consequences of hunger and poor nutrition and are committed to creating a stronger, healthier Montana. We aim to support all of our neighbors by delivering services and programs that address these challenges to help all people thrive, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Collectively, we recognize that Montana food pantries represent a robust market for Montana farmers, ranchers and producers. Purchasing fresh, Montana-grown products keeps pantries’ food acquisition dollars in the local economy, supports area farmers and drives the development of local food systems that can withstand vulnerability to national and international production and supply chain issues.

Guiding Principles

We believe that hunger can be eliminated.

We believe the underlying causes of hunger must be addressed to realize our long-term goal of eliminating hunger. We recognize that hunger is just one symptom of the larger root cause of living in poverty.

We recognize the dignity of all people and believe access to nutritious food is a human right.

We believe in engaging the community and involving those we serve in finding solutions to the challenges of hunger and food insecurity.

We believe strong collaboration and partnerships - both internally and externally - are essential to fulfilling our mission.
